What in the World is Going On?
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see what is going on in the world around us; it just takes one with their eyes open. Each day when we check the news we hear more talk of war. North Korea, Lebanon, and Iran dominate the headlines. With each stroke of the presidential pen, more freedoms are lost to the good people of the United States and we don’t seem to care. “As long as I feel safe,” we seem to say, “I don’t care what laws are passed against terrorists.” Yet, do we really understand how a “terrorist” is defined?Vaguely worded definitions put all of us at risk. All over this country people are being arrested for simply speaking badly of the president. Theodore Roosevelt once said,
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else.” Kansas City Star, May 7, 1918
Yet because of the current War on Terrorism, this behavior, once lauded by our president as patriotic, is now seen as terrorization. Worse of all, once labeled as a terrorist, one no longer has the right to file a writ of habeas corpus! The question is, do we understand what that means? According to www.lectlaw.com:
A writ of habeas corpus is a judicial mandate to a prison official ordering that an inmate be brought to the court so it can be determined whether or not that person is imprisoned lawfully and whether or not he should be released from custody. A habeas corpus petition is a petition filed with a court by a person who objects to their own or another’s detention or imprisonment.
That’s right folks, we no longer will be permitted to expose our own false imprisonment, or anyone else’s for that matter! This is justice? This is fair treatment? And what of the so-called “right to interrogate” the prisoner using extreme measures? Both our president and vice president demand the need for no restraints when it comes to interrogating a supposed terrorist. Did you catch that? They don’t have to prove the person is a terrorist… they only need to believe it to be so.
The Muslim Threat
All over the world Muslims are slaughtering Christians and Jews, yet the world press is mostly quiet in regards to this. All the while our president continues to claim that Islam is a religion of peace. Sure, they are peaceful enough… as long as you agree with the statement that Allah is greater! I for one do not agree with that statement. Do you? Did you know that what I just said could get me killed? There is no freedom of speech when it comes to Muslim fundamentalism. Yet the American media has constantly put Christian fundamentalists in a negative light as if they (we) were the terrorists. Sure, there are those who “hear the voice of God” and kill “in his name” but these are not the actions of the majority. In fact, most of these “extremists” have been diagnosed with mental problems, yet the media forgets to tell Americans. Yet each time one of these mentally ill people does something terrible in the name of God, we come one step closer to seeing the term “Christian” on the list of possible terrorists.
The American Threat
In fact, “patriot” is already on the list. Anyone who talks about the Constitution, and how we need to protect it, is considered suspect. Look at history and it becomes plain to see that weapons removed from the hands of citizens only leads to totalitarian rule, yet the media loves to demonize the NRA. There is a reason that the right to bear arms was included in the Constitution. Do we know why? Do we care? Or are we too interested in “feeling safe” than actually being safe?
How safe can we be when our troops are stationed all over the world? What would happen if another country, like China or Russia, decided to attack us? Who would protect us? Even the National Guard, whose job it is to protect this land, has been deployed overseas. Why? Why is our protection taken away? Is foreign oil that important? With our troops deployed in 135 countries, are we really safe? The big question is, “Why do we need to be in so many countries?” We have troops in 70% of the countries of the world! Why?
I found this list of countries at: http://www.lewrockwell.com/vance/vance8.html According to the Department of Defense publication, “Active Duty Military Personnel Strengths by Regional Area and by Country,” the United States has troops in 135 countries. Here is the list:
| Afghanistan Albania Algeria Antigua Argentina Australia Austria Azerbaijan Bahamas Bahrain Bangladesh Barbados Belgium Belize Bolivia Bosnia and Herzegovina Botswana Brazil Bulgaria Burma Burundi Cambodia Cameroon Canada Chad Chile China Colombia Congo Costa Rica Cote D’lvoire Cuba Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Djibouti Dominican Republic East Timor Ecuador Egypt El Salvador Eritrea Estonia Ethiopia Fiji |
Finland France Georgia Germany Ghana Greece Guatemala Guinea Haiti Honduras Hungary Iceland India Indonesia Iraq Ireland Israel Italy Jamaica Japan Jordan Kazakhstan Kenya Kuwait Kyrgyzstan Laos Latvia Lebanon Liberia Lithuania Luxembourg Macedonia Madagascar Malawi Malaysia Mali Malta Mexico Mongolia Morocco Mozambique Nepal Netherlands New Zealand Nicaragua |
Niger Nigeria North Korea Norway Oman Pakistan Paraguay Peru Philippines Poland Portugal Qatar Romania Russia Saudi Arabia Senegal Serbia and Montenegro Sierra Leone Singapore Slovenia Spain South Africa South Korea Sri Lanka Suriname Sweden Switzerland Syria Tanzania Thailand Togo Trinidad and Tobago Tunisia Turkey Turkmenistan Uganda Ukraine United Arab Emirates United Kingdom Uruguay Venezuela Vietnam Yemen Zambia Zimbabwe |
Can someone explain to me why we need troops in Barbados, Jamaica, and Switzerland? I thought these were peaceful countries. What kind of threat could they possibly pose to America? Could it be that WE are actually the threat? Could this be why anti-American sentiment is at an all time high? A recent poll in Great Britain showed that the fine people of that country are more afraid of our president than the president of North Korea. And these are our closest allies!
Trouble is coming!
All of these facts point to trouble ahead, yet most of God’s people in the US are too busy with their own lives to realize. Even those who read and study the word of God don’t really believe that the curses apply to them. This is exactly how the ancient Israelites felt, yet look at what happened to them. Do we really believe that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob loves the people of this country more than those of ancient Israel? And what of present day Israel? Why is it that the US can go all over the world in the efforts to wipe out terrorism, yet the Israelis cannot fight the terrorists at their gates? Am I the only one seeing a double standard here?
Throughout the Bible there are stories of people who turned their backs on the One True God, only to be judged because of it. The US, as well as many other so-called Christian countries, has basically told the Most High God, “Go away… we don’t need You!” Even Israel, the land of God’s chosen people, has refused to follow His ways and His laws. Yet we foolishly believe that He will protect us from our enemies. How can He when we are sleeping with the enemy?
I recently received a message from a visitor to this website who said, “Do you really believe the end is near? If you do then you are to be pitied above all else.” This reminded me of the prophets of old who proclaimed peace when there is no peace. If I am wrong, then I have done no harm and can be ignored as someone to be pitied. But what if I’m right? What if the troubles in the Middle East escalate to the point where we are attacked? What if the next president doesn’t have Christian or Jewish backing, or is totally against people of faith? What if there is another terrorist event, which will push the average American to the point where they consider all people of faith to be suspect? What then?
Are we ready?
If thing were to dramatically change tomorrow… if Christians and Jews were declared to be terrorists, or if our country were attacked, what would we do? What could we do? If martial law was declared and all weapons confiscated, how would we protect your family? If the economy crashed, as many are predicting, and we were faced with a depression so bad that we would long for the 1930’s, how would we survive? Many people claim to believe that we are now in the end times, yet they don’t believe they will see tribulation. The time of Jacob’s trouble is fast approaching. According to some of the Rabbis in Israel, Jacob’s trouble is already upon us. If this is true, and many believe it is, what does that mean to us, here in the western world? Will the tribulation be worldwide or just in the Middle East? What does the Bible say about this? Do we know?
When one joins the military, the first thing taught is the rules. They are then taught how to be physically prepared for battle, running obstacle courses and hiking for miles with a heavy pack. On the battlefield, these lessons learned will save their lives and the lives of others around them. When one joins the family of God, they are given a Bible (if they are blessed!) and told to go read it. Anytime a new believer tries to put what they’ve read into practice, the very same people who should be training them prevent them!
The Bible clearly tells us that there is a spiritual battle going on in the heavenly realm, and this battle often crosses into the physical realm as well. According to the prophetic books, the battle is over our very souls. Are we prepared to go to battle? If we came under spiritual attack, like Job, would we be strong enough in our faith to still worship Adonai El Shaddai? If we lost everything… our nice houses, our jobs, and our standing in the community, would we still feel blessed to be called His people?
Do we really believe the Bible is true?
This is something that each and every one of us needs to ask ourselves. Before we can answer that question, we must first ask ourselves this, “How well do I know the Scriptures?” If a Muslim told us that Allah is the Most High God, would we be able to disprove him? Even more importantly, will Adonai recognize us as His people? How can we know for sure? These are very important questions that we need to ask ourselves every day, and even more so as the day of Adonai approaches.
So many of us claim to believe the Word of God, yet it is not evident in our daily walk. We claim to follow the Law of God, but only when it suits our purpose. If the angel of the Lord were to walk into our congregation, would he recognize it as fitting the pattern in heaven? The Most High God has given us instruction regarding how we are to worship Him yet we have decided how we want to worship Him and expect Him to be blessed by it. How rude can we be? We are supposed to bend our will towards His, not the other way around.
It’s Time to Pray!
The average worship service in this country only contains about five minutes worth of prayers. Many gatherings of God’s people contain no prayer time at all. This should not be! What ever happened to the men of God getting together in prayer? What ever happened to starting and ending our day in prayer? Unfortunately God’s people spend very little time in corporate prayer and even less time in personal prayer. Look at the Muslims; they pray five times daily and devote themselves to the service of Allah. Oh that we would have that same kind of commitment to the One True God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
The day is soon coming when we will need to listen to His voice in order to survive. In order to do so, we must become accustomed to that voice now. Unless we spend time talking with and listening to Him, we will never be able to discern His voice. Abraham left his home and his family because he heard the voice of El Shaddai above all others. This was only possible because he knew, and was known by, the Most High. Can we honestly say the same thing?
He has a message for His people.
Are we ready to hear it? Are we listening to Him or to the world around us? The messages are not the same. The world screams its message; Adonai speaks softly. Are we attuned enough to the sound of His voice to hear it? As time grows shorter and the evil increases, any and all words and messages from Him need to be taken to heart. If we read the Scriptures, we find a message therein… do we know what it is? Do we want to know?
With all of the different beliefs found within the body of believers, both Jew and Christian, how can we possibly know what is truth and what is not? The enemy will give us just enough of the truth to make the lie believable. How do we discern between fact and fiction? Can we trust our spiritual leaders to give us the whole truth and nothing but the truth, or are they unable to give what they themselves do not have?
The only way we can be sure is by checking everything with what we know for sure that He said. And what might that be? He spoke directly to Moses, so maybe that would be a good place to start. Yes, there are many good teachers out there, but we still must check what they are teaching against the word of the Most High God. Regardless of how we were raised, regardless of whether we are Jew or Christian, we must, MUST check all teachings against the Law given to Moses. If we want to be strong in faith, we must be strong in our knowledge of the word, just as the prophets of old.
His message is for all of His people! |
