A Message for the Remnant

Exodus - A Foreshadowing

Did you know that the word “rapture” is not found anywhere in the Bible? If you don’t believe me, do a search for it yourself; you won’t find it. So, one might ask, where did the concept of the rapture originate, and what do the Scriptures really say regarding the fate of the people of God in the Latter Days?

To understand our future, first we must understand the past, for what happened to our fathers will happen to us as well. We might as well face facts; the more things change, the more they stay the same. If we want to be prepared for what it to come, we must study what has already happened to the people of God… back in Egypt.

Jeremiah made the connection for us when he wrote:

“Therefore behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when they will no longer say, ‘As the LORD lives, who brought up the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ but, ‘As the LORD lives, who brought up and led back the descendants of the household of Israel from the north land and from all the countries where I had driven them.’ Then they will live on their own soil.” (Jeremiah 23:7-8)

Paul too made the connection in his letter to the believers in Corinth:

For I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea; and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; and all ate the same spiritual food; and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Messiah. Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness.

Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved. Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, “THE PEOPLE SAT DOWN TO EAT AND DRINK, AND STOOD UP TO PLAY.” Nor let us act immorally, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day. Nor let us try the Lord, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents. Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer. Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. (1 Corinthians 10:1-12)

When was the last time you read the story of the Exodus? When was the last time that you read it with an eye on the future? I dare say, not many of us have. Yet the connection is made twice between the Exodus from Egypt and the gathering together of God’s people from where they have been scattered. Torah teaches that a truth is established on the witness of two or three and we have already found two witnesses…

Join me on a quest through the Scriptures and we will see how many parallels we can find between the Exodus and the gathering together of God’s people in the Latter Days. Maybe in so doing we can figure out just what we should expect to see in the days ahead. If we know ahead of time, our faith will be strengthened when we see these things come to pass before our very eyes!

As we journey ahead, we ask Adonai Himself to lead and guide our study, helping us to extract the precious from the worthless and protecting us from deception. We fully understand that knowledge of Him is nothing without faith in His saving grace, but that His people are spiritually dying through their lack of knowledge in Him, His ways and His plans. May the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob purify our hearts, removing the dross of the teachings of man, revealing circumcised hearts, ready to do His will.
